open position as Earth Observation Specialist

The open position is directed to a include a person inside the technical team to develop Earth Observation algorithms for the detection of snow properties and hydrological regime in rivers.

Requested activities:

  • Development of algorithms for the elaboratin of hydrological information from Satellite Data, in particular:
    • Snow Covered Area and Wet Snow from optical/SAR sensors;
    • River/lake depth and river discharge from Radar Altimeter e Multi-spectral data;
  • Integration and assimilation of satellite data into hydrological models;
  • Predictive models, based on Machine Learnings, based on Satellite data;
  • Support in writing applications and tenders on Earth Observation.

Enrolment approximate begin: within December 2020
Work seat: Pergine Valsugana - Viale Dante 300, ITALY. Smart-working for some days in the week is admitted.
Contract duration: long-term enrolment.


PhD or Masters degree in Environmental Engineering or Physics or Information Technology, with experience in Earth Observation.

Domain comptences:

  • experience in Remote Sensing techniques, especially with SAR technologies, focused on water and/or snow
  • knowledge of Machine Learning framework.

Language competences
  • Fluent in English and Italian

IT competences
  • Advanced Linux, shell scripting, SSH protocol and multiplexer terminals (tmux).
  • Python programming and basics of shell scripting.

Personal characteristics
  • problem solving approach and independence to look for solutions;
  • team working with different sectors (management, IT, R&D), time management, priority scheduling, communication capacity to relate with customers/ partners;
  • punctuality, discipline;
  • relationships ability;
